RicksRV Rentals FAQs

Most RV campgrounds offer water, sewage, electric, and cable hook ups for about $25 to $35 a night. You just plug in your power cord and TV cable, hook up your water and dump hose, and you’re ready to kick back and relax in your Ricks RV Rental. And when you’re ready to head home, dumping and flushing the waste tanks is as easy as opening a drain valve and turning on the water for a few minutes, all of which we will demonstrate before you leave on your vacation. Below are the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) that we receive. But if you have any questions that aren’t answered here, just call Rick at 713-RicksRV (742-5778).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q. Will someone show me how to set up and operate the RVs?
A. Yes. We will give you a familiarization tour of the vehicle and walk you through the entire process of setting up and operating the equipment. This will take about 30 minutes, so allow a little extra time when picking up your RV. We want to make that sure you are completely comfortable with everything so you can just relax and have fun.

Q. Do the RVs have TV cable hook ups?
A. Yes. All of our RVs come with cable ready flat panel TVs w/ DVRs and are easily connected to the cable outlets at RV campgrounds.

Q. What size breaker do I need to plug the RV power cord into?
A. 30 Amps is sufficient to run everything on the RV including the AC and 30 Amps is a very common outlet at RV campgrounds.

Q. Does the RV need to be returned clean?
A. Yes. The RV needs to be returned in the same clean condition it was when you picked it up.

Q. Do the waste tanks need to be drained and flushed?
A. Yes, but that is as easy as opening a valve and turning on the water for a few minutes. It can be done right at the RV campground.

Q. Do you allow pets?
A. We do allow pets, but you are responsible for any damage, stains, or odor problems that may occur.

Q. Is awning use allowed?
A. Due to the amount of damage caused by driving off without completely retracting the awning, or failing to retract it when bad weather is approaching, awning use is only allowed if an additional $1,000 deposit is made. The deposit is fully refunded if no awning damage occurs.

Q. What do I need in the way of insurance?
A. Most of the time your auto policy will cover RV rentals. If yours does not, we provide insurance coverage for $15 a day.

Q. How many seat belts do the Motor Homes have?
A. The Motor Homes have a total of 10 seat belts.

Q. Can I tow anything with a Motor Home?
A. Usually the answer is no. However, if you can show that your insurance would cover it, exceptions can be made.

Q. What kind of mileage do the Motor Homes get?
A. While we do not represent any mileage guarantees, previous RV vacationers report averaging around 10 miles per gallon. Of course that depends on the terrain and many other factors such as speed, driving style, city or highway driving, and many other factors.

Q. How many free miles do I get with my Motor Home rental?
A. You get 100 free miles a day. Additional miles are charged at the rate of 25 cents a mile.

Q. What do I get charged for a late return?
A. Although you can be charged up to $25 an hour, we understand that things don’t always go as planned. We are flexible as long as the delay is within reason and you have called us to make arrangements.

Q. What size hitch do I need for the Pop Up Camper or Travel Trailer?
A. The Pop Up Camper requires a 2 inch hitch and the Travel Trailer requires a 2 and 5/16 inch hitch.

Q. Do I need a weight distribution hitch kit when towing the Pop Up or Travel Trailer?
A. It is not necessary for the Pop Ups but is recommended for the Travel Trailers. If you don’t have one, we can rent one to you for $50.

Q. Are the RVs allowed in Mexico?
A. Sorry, no. Our insurance does not allow Rvs to be taken into Mexico.
